Endodontic Treatment

The endodontic treatment, also known as root canal treatment, is a dental procedure to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth that may be causing pain and discomfort. This treatment can save your natural tooth, ensuring natural appearance and returning normal biting force and efficient chewing. The root canal treatment also protects other teeth from excessive wear or strain, benefiting your overall oral health.

The root canal system contains the dental pulp (that is, the soft tissue at the centre of the tooth) and extends into the bone of the jaw, anchoring the tooth in position. It contains nerve tissue, blood vessels, and other cells and is a living part of the teeth. The term “root canal” comes from the idea of cleaning the canal inside a tooth´s root.

In a series of appointments, the endodontic therapy or root canal therapy will treat the infected pulp of a tooth, which results in eliminating the infection and protecting the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion.
