Inlays and Onlays

Dental Inlays are similar to fillings and will fit inside the outer edges of the tooth. They can be made from a variety of materials, but most often they’re made of tooth-coloured porcelain.

The inlay procedure requires approximately two visits to the clinic.

During the first appointment, any decay is removed, impressions are taken, and the temporary inlay is applied to the tooth. At the second appointment, the permanent inlay is bonded to the tooth, hiding any signs of imperfection.

Onlays, sometimes referred as partial crowns, have a similar procedure to inlays´, but onlays will cover one or more of the outer edges of the tooth, instead of only one as the inlay´s normally do. They are the conservative alternative to receiving a crown, and they preserve more of your natural tooth.

Inlays and onlays may be used for cosmetic enhancement, to restore broken or decayed teeth, or to replace a damaged filling.
